## Introduction

Duo Security is a platform for multi-factor authentication and user access management. This guide shows you how to create an Admin API application in Duo and gather the values you need to configure the integration.

## Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure that you have:

- A Duo Security account with administrative access to the Duo Admin Panel

## Required Permissions

| Permission | Purpose |
| --- | --- |
| Grant resource - Read | Read users, groups, and devices |
| Grant resource - Write | Enable and disable users |
| Grant read log | Read authentication and administrator action logs |

## Creating an Admin API Application

1. Log in to the Duo Admin Panel
2. Select **Applications > Application Catalog**
3. Find **Admin API**, then select **+ Add**
4. In the *Permissions* section, select the permissions listed in the section above titled [Required Permissions](#required-permissions)
5. Select **Save**
6. Take note of the *Integration key*, *Secret key*, and *API hostname* values and store them in a safe location
7. You have now created an Admin API application. Proceed to the next section titled [Configuring the Integration](#configuring-the-integration)
